Heat Is On Friday

After dense fog and coast drizzle this morning, the heat will be ramping up as we kick off the weekend at least for one day! Stronger high pressure will yield another day of above normal temperatures—in some cases as much as 10-15ºF above. Many inland locations will be in the mid to upper 90s today. This will also be short-lived, as troughing redevelops on the coast, deepening the marine layer once . Temps will rise again for next week, getting even warmer with triple digit heat possible inland. The heat and drier air will bring back fire weather concerns and possible risk of heat related illness for some inland hot spots.

AIR QUALITY: Good

Today: Morning fog clearing with sunrise, then sunny throughout the day. Warmer, with coastal highs in the low 70s to upper 80s and upper 80s to around 102ºF inland. Windy up valleys late in the day.

Overnight: Mostly clear with low clouds possible at coast lows in the low to upper 50s.

Saturday: Sunny and pleasant but cooler and more seasonal with highs in the low to upper 60s coastal and upper 60s to 80s inland. Breezy in the valleys.

Extended:
Next week a very strong ridge of high pressure builds in from the west with temperatures aloft rivaling that of what we can see mid-summer. So far, areas inland could be looking at widespread 100s inland and even upper 80s-90s toward the coast.
