The Heat Is On
A HEAT ADVISORY has been issued for much of the Central Coast beginning Wednesday morning through Thursday night as conditions stay dry and high temps soar. As a high pressure system heads our way, expect sunny, dry and hotter days as heat will be ramping up across the Central Coast. A big warmup arrives with temps 10-20 degrees warmer inland Wednesday and Thursday, and a moderate heat risk expected for many areas along with elevated fire weather danger. Be safe and take care of the animals, young and elderly. Then another cooldown for the weekend!

THURSDAY...
* WHAT...Temperatures ranging from mid 90s to 107 degrees.
* WHERE...North Bay Interior Mountains, East Bay Interior Valleys,
Santa Cruz Mountains, Eastern Santa Clara Hills, East Bay Hills,
Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, Mountains
of San Benito and Interior Monterey County including Pinnacles
National Park.
* IMPACTS...Moderate HeatRisk across inland areas.
This level of heat affects individuals sensitive to heat,
especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate
hydration.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
Overnight: Clear to partly cloudy and milder with lows mainly in the mid to upper 50s to mid 60s.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny and much warmer with highs in the upper 60s to 80s at the coast and surrounding areas, and mid 80s to 107 degrees farther inland. Heat Advisory in place.
Extended: As everyone heads back to work and school, temps will warm up with sunshine and quiet weather. The heat is on for Wednesday and peak heat will be Thursday across the local area with a moderate heat risk possible along with elevated fire weather concerns inland as we see more triple digit heat. A cooldown is expected as we head into Friday and the weekend with more clouds at the coast and added moisture.
