Cooler, with gusty winds on Sunday/Monday
Sunday’s outlook is for partly cloudy, cooler and breezy conditions, as a weather system slides past to our north. Any rain from the system will fall north of San Francisco, but onshore winds will strengthen, cooling temperatures and pushing low clouds and potentially a spritz of drizzle into the region.
On Monday, gusty northerly offshore winds are likely. Strongest winds will be found over the mountains. The air mass behind this system won’t be all that cold, however, and strengthening high pressure in combination with this mild, dry air mass will mean warmer than normal high temperatures for most of next week.
Sunday: Mixed high and low level clouds with the low clouds more concentrated near the coast. Breezy onshore winds at the coast and inland valleys. Slightly cooler, with coastal highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s, and 60s to low 70s inland. Offshore winds pick up over the hills late.
Extended: Next week will be characterized by offshore winds. They will be the strongest on Monday and may be gusty over the hills. The air mass will remain warm & dry throughout the week, though the mornings will likely be cool.
The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center
for February 22nd – 28th calls for the likelihood of BELOW normal temperatures
and BELOW normal precipitation.
