Several rain chances this week
Cool and unsettled weather is in store for the next several days. Several light weather systems - each progressively stronger - will move past the Central Coast this week. Expect cooler than normal temperatures, brisk winds, and occasional light to moderate rain through Thursday.
The first system will arrive Sunday night after midnight. Any rainfall will be light, with a few hundredths of an inch in some locations. A second, stronger system will follow Tuesday morning, with slightly higher rainfall amounts. Cold air, combined with clearing skies, will produce cold morning temperatures Wednesday morning. Many locations will be in the 30s to low 40s, while protected inland valleys will drop into the upper 20s. The strongest of these systems will move through Thursday, bringing widespread rain.
Sunday night: Becoming mostly cloudy, with a slight chance of rain after midnight. Lows will be in the mid 40s.
Monday: Partly cloudy, cool and breezy. Highs in the 50s with a few 40s in the higher elevations. Increasing clouds late in the day.
Extended: A chance of showers Tuesday morning. Cool daytime highs and cold overnight lows. Dry conditions for Wednesday, before rain returns on Thursday.
The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for January 18th – 24th
calls for the likelihood of near normal temperatures and BELOW
normal precipitation.
