Paicines man hit and killed along Airline Highway identified by CHP

SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The CHP has identified the man killed after being hit by a truck in South San Benito County on Sunday afternoon.

The CHP said the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. along Airline Highway west of Old Hernandez Road on Sunday.

The victim has since been identified as 77-year-old Joseph W. Spencer.

According to the CHP, they received reports around the time of the incident of a Silver truck colliding with a pedestrian on private property.

"For undetermined reasons it appears the vehicle struck the male running him over causing fatal injuries," said the CHP in a statement to KION.

Investigators said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
