Scotts Valley enters Stage 1 water supply condition

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (KION-TV) - People in Scotts Valley are being asked to reduce their water usage because of low, local groundwater supplies.

The Scotts Valley Water District is declaring a stage one water supply condition with rainfall for the most recent "water year" totaling about 24 inches.

That is 60 percent of the district's average and 80 percent below the threshold that triggers a Stage 1 response.

While there are no mandatory water use restrictions at this time, SVWD wants customers to stay informed with WaterSmart alerts, limit outdoor watering to two days a week, utilize water-saving resources, and report water waste.

SVWD will continue to monitor conditions closely and ensure a reliable water supply for the future.
