CHP: Prunedale man killed in solo vehicle crash east of Moss Landing
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- UPDATE MAY 15TH AT 8:55 A.M.: More information has been released regarding the fatal accident near Elkhorn Elementary School.
According to a CHP officer on scene, the driver of a Honda sedan was driving eastbound on Castroville Boulevard when they attempted to turn onto Elkhorn Road towards Elkhorn Elementary School. During the attempted turn, a moped was involved which resulted in a head on collision between the Honda and moped. It's unknown whether the moped was on Elkhorn Road or heading west toward the Honda.
According to the officer, the driver of the moped died as a result of the crash. The driver of the Honda suffered no injuries and stayed on scene to cooperate with officers. No drugs or alcohol look to be a factor in the accident at this time.
The Monterey County Sheriff's Office identified the driver of the moped as 52-year-old Michael Pacifico Carrillo of Prunedale.

According to the CHP, the crash happened along Castroville Boulevard south of Elkhorn Elementary School.
Only one vehicle was involved, although the CHP wouldn't confirm what type of vehicle.
Drivers are being asked to take caution if they need to drive through the area.
