Oklahoma City Thunder outduel Indiana Pacers in Game 7, win NBA championship

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KION) - The Oklahoma City Thunder are NBA Champions after outlasting the Indiana Pacers in a seven-game battle.

The Thunder capped it all off with a statement 103-91 win to bring home the city's first title after relocating from Seattle to Oklahoma City in 2008. In addition to hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander also took home the Bill Russell trophy, awarded to the NBA Finals MVP.

Gilgeous-Alexander dominated the winner-take-all matchup with a game-high 29 points paired with 12 assists for a double-double. He becomes just the first player in 25 years to win the Finals MVP, the regular season MVP, and the scoring title all in the same season.

The back-and-forth series was the first to reach seven games since the 2016 NBA Finals.
