Seaside City Council takes first steps to put ‘safe and sane’ fireworks on the November ballot
SEASIDE, Calif. (KION-TV)- A fireworks debate in Seaside could be decided by Seaside City Council in the November 2024 election.
Last week, the Seaside City Council unanimously approved 5-0 to let voters decide on the future of safe and sane fireworks in the city in the November 2024 election.
Seaside City Councilman Alex Miller confirmed to KION that the vote which will direct city staff to start writing the ballot measure for the City Council.
Miller said the council is scheduled to come back to approve the language of the ballot measure in the City Council meeting on March 21.
The City did originally banned "safe and sane," fireworks in 2020, but the ban was overturned after they received a referendum which had 2,400 signatures to overturn the ban.
