Monterey Bay F.C., San Jose Earthquakes to enter 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Competition

SEASIDE, Calif./CHICAGO, Ill. (KION-TV) -- The USL Championship's Monterey Bay F.C. and MLS club San Jose Earthquakes announced they will compete in this year's 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Competition.

The competition will feature 96 teams across amateur and pro ranks and consist of 95 games from March to September.

San Jose is joining Division 1 with Monterey Bay F.C. joining Division 2.

The Crisp and Kelp made it to the Round of 32 of the competition in 2023, falling to LAFC in penalties in a thrilling match at Cardinale Stadium.

They did so after upsetting the San Jose Earthquakes in the third round.
