Flower shops prepare for busy Valentine’s Day on the Central Coast

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)- With Valentine's Day on its way, local businesses such as Magda's Flowers, are preparing for the big day on February 14.

Sales are starting to flourish due to high demand of flowers and other items before the holiday.

In order to make the day special for many love ones, shops are expecting preorders so that they can start working on the orders in advance.

It’s very busy around this time," said Magda's Flowers owner, Dora Bautista. "Mostly because there’s a lot of love in the air. A lot of people came to buy beautiful flowers for their lover’s like friends, girlfriends and family."

Bautista said she expects as many as 300 customers to come in and shop as February 14 approaches.

Bautista said some supply chain issues are impacting shipments of popular roses.

The most popular flower at the shop is called Ramo Buchones. It's a collection of roses and accessories added to the bouquet.

As the traffic continues to increase around Valentine's Day, businesses are able to keep up with the high demand items by the support of the workers as they push out their purchases.
