Shelter-in-place order and road closures issued for parts of Monterey County
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) TV - Monterey County issued an evacuation order and evacuation warning for several parts of the county ahead of an incoming storm.
People in these areas are asked to be prepared to leave if an evacuation order is issued.
SHELTER IN PLACE ORDERS
Arroyo Seco, west of Carmel Valley Road- The Monterey County Sheriff's Office has issued a shelter-in-place order for people who live just west for areas of Arroyo Seco Road and tributary roads west of Carmel Valley Rd until further notice.
Deputies said there is rock movement of falling rock above Arroyo Seco Road with potential for additional slope failure
Evacuation Point
The County of Monterey has established a temporary evacuation point which is at Carmel Valley Library on 65 West County Road. County officials said the evacuation point will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.
Resource Centers
There are also three resource centers that will be available for residents who are affected by the winter storms.
Those areas will be at the following locations from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., tonight and tomorrow.
- Asilomar Conference Center Social Hall at 800 Asilomar Boulevard in Pacific Grove.
- Monterey Public Library at 625 Pacific Street in Monterey.
- Seaside Library at 550 Harcourt Avenue in Seaside.
Road Closures
County officials said that a full road closure is in place at the slide of Arroyo Seco Road.
The California Highway Patrol has closed the right-hand lane on Northbound Highway 101 near Chualar due to flooding on the road.
Denner Road in the Bolsa Knolls neighborhood is closed to all traffic from San Juan Grade Road to Paul Avenue.
Elm Avenue between Espinosa Road and Metz Road just east of Greenfield due to the crossing will be closed due to increased flow in the Salinas River.
Elkhorn Road is closed to all traffic with wires on road from Walker Valley Road and Elkhorn Slough Reserve
The City of Greenfield says that the intersection of Apple Avenue and El Camino Real is closed due to flooding concerns.
Hartnell Road which sits just outside of Salinas is closed from Highway 101 to Alisal Road due to flooding concerns.
Laureles Grade Road - In Carmel Valley, County officials have closed the northbound lane closed for all traffic about half a mile north of Miramonte Road
Lewis Road- Just outside of Los Lomas, the road is closed at Garin Road and Hutching Court
Mal Paso Road - In Carmel-by-the Sea, the road is closed for all traffic from Highway 1 to Mal Paso Lane
Murphy Road Crossing is closed due to increased water level in the Pajaro River
Old Stage Road is closed for all traffic from Potter Road and Chualar Road.
Paul Avenue is closed between from Cornwall Street to Rogge Road
Rogge Road is closed for all traffic between San Juan Grade Road and Paul Avenue.
Salinas River Crossing at Davis Road between Hitchcock Road and Reservation Road. County officials said the crossing will be closed due to increased flow in the Salinas River.
Pacific Grove Police will be closing Ocean View Boulevard starting on Sunday morning at midnight in both directions from Esplanade Street to Lighthouse Avenue due to potential storm debris and dangerous swells on the roadway. Officers said turnouts will also be closed.
Pacific Grove Police also said that intersections of Ocean View Boulevard which includes Corral Street, Acropolis Street and Asilomar Avenue will also be closed.
