21-year-old man being charged with involuntary manslaughter in deadly vehicle versus pedestrian crash, police say

MARINA, Calif. (KION-TV)- Marina Police said that a 21-year-old man will be getting charged with involuntary manslaughter after being involved in a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Sunday night.

Investigators said that the crash happened around 6:21 p.m. on the 300 block of Reservation Road.

When officers got to the scene, they found a male victim who had serious injuries. Officers said that man was transported to a local trauma center where he died from his injuries.

Marina Police and the Monterey County Sheriff's Office have identified the victim as 64-year-old Lornezo Alvarado Barron of Marina.

Marina Police said they shut down Reservation Road for multiple hours while the crash was being investigated.

Police said that the driver who is identified as 21-year-old Daniel Serrano remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.

Serrano was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on driving under the influence causing injury and involuntary manslaughter charges.

Marina Police said that the investigation is ongoing
