Two suspects allegedly involved in elderly abuse scam have been arrested in Los Gatos, police say

DEL REY OAKS, Calif. (KION-TV)- UPDATE ON DEC. 20, 2023 AT 1:19 PM- Del Rey Oaks Police said that two suspects who were allegedly involved in an eldery abuse scam have been arrested in Los Gatos.

On Wednesday, Los Gatos Police said they were able to locate the suspect's vehicle in the city of Los Gatos.

Investigators said that they were able to locate the vehicle and arrested 40-year-old Loredana Ifituma and 31-year-old Vaslie Mreana at an apartment in Los Gatos.

On Dec. 14, Ifituma was trying to steal an senior citizen's purse outside of the Safeway store in Del Rey Oaks. Police said that Ifituma and Mreana followed the victim to her car and tried to steal the purse again.

Del Rey Oaks Police said that both suspects are international career criminals with a lengthy criminal histories.

Ifituma and Mreana were both transported to Monterey County Jail on conspiracy and elder abuse/theft charges.

Del Rey Oaks Police is looking for two suspects who allegedly targeted an senior citizen at the Safeway store in Del Rey Oaks.

Police said the incident took place on Thursday as the woman followed the victim outside of the store and attempted to reach into her purse.

Officers say the woman was unsuccessful in that attempt.

Investigators add the victim got into her car but the male suspect was trying to distract her as the female suspect tried to steal the victim's purse again.

Police said witnesses in the area were able to prevent the theft from happening.

Del Rey Oaks Police said the suspects were last seen driving away in a dark-colored Porsche Cayenne.
