Police seize juvenile’s Talaria electric bike after brief chase

CAPITOLA, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Capitola Police said that after the rider of a Talaria did not yield to an enforcement stop on Clares Street New Year's Eve, a small pursuit started but was then stopped due to traffic conditions in the area.

Police say that they later found the driver, who was a male juvenile, and got a seizure warrant to impound the vehicle for 30 days.

Because he did not comply with the initial stop, police say that the suspect was charged with felony evading and reckless driving.

According to police, electric motorcycles like Sur Ron's and Talaria's are not street legal or safe and can have motors that exceed 6,000 watts, which is more than the legal 750 watts.

"This Talaria was modified to reach speeds more double the stock limit," said police.
