Monterey Bay F.C. in Salinas promoting the club, new colors

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Monterey Bay Football Club was out in Salinas at the Constitution Soccer Complex, giving away temporary tattoos, stickers, and other promotional items to share their new crest and colors with the public on Sunday.

Sporting Director and Head Coach Frank Yallop and Assistant Coach Ramiro Corrales were also there meeting fans and signing autographs.

"Today's a little bit of a tribute to them," Yallop said on Sunday. "We're coming back and sort of showing what we actually come up with and what they come up with."

He said the coaches will be on the lookout for new talent to recruit for the new Monterey Bay team.

"I'm excited for the young talent," said Corrales who was a former soccer player on the Central Coast, playing with the San Jose Earthquakes for most of his professional career. "There's always been talent in Salinas, Watsonville, all around here, and that we're excited to find that talent."

They haven't released their roaster yet. According to the coaches, they’re waiting for November 31, when contracts end in the United Soccer League -- the Division II league in the U.S.

"If you have talent, if you're good, if you keep working on it at it," Corrales said. "I mean, there's going to be opportunities for you."

Earlier this week, Monterey Bay F.C. revealed their official crest and colors in a short film.

USL announced in February that Monterey Bay F.C. joined USL Championship for the 2022 season. The club will play at the California State University Monterey Bay campus. They've also renovated the stadium, which will bring the venue’s capacity to 6,000 spectators.

The club will be making another appearance on Tuesday, July 20 at the Old Monterey Farmer’s Market.
