Local eyes on Salinas Mayor and City Council races
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) UPDATED 11/3/20 10:49PM Initial results show Kimbley Craig in the lead for the Salinas mayoral race. Chris Barrera is in the second spot, followed by Ernesto Gonzales, Michael Lipe and Wes White.
KION spoke with Craig after the initial results came in and she said after the passing of Joe Gunter, she hopes to "follow in his footsteps and do a great job for the residents of salinas.” The congratulations are pouring in for Craig, but she's reminding supporters that all the votes have to be counted, and in a local election, even one vote can make a difference. She's hoping to stay in the lead, but waiting to see more results.
"My fingers are tossed, my toes are crossed, everyone in my family has their fingers crossed and hopefully we’ll stay in the lead,” Craig said.
