Two arrested on gun charges in Morgan Hill during investigation into violent gang crimes in Stockton
MORGAN HILL, Calif. (KION) Two Arizona men were arrested in Morgan Hill as part of an investigation into an increase in violent crime involving gang members in Stockton.
In late September, investigators got information that 30-year-old Anthony Comans and 35-year-old Kwabena Twumasi may have been in the City of Morgan Hill, and they were found getting out of a 2015 Cadillac Escalade and approaching the lobby of the La Quinta Inn on Condit Road.
Both men were detained, and during a search of the vehicle, officers said they found 21 guns. Police said a few of them were illegally altered to be fully automatic.
Comans and Twumasi were arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for alleged conspiracy and illegal possession/trafficking of guns.
The investigation into the criminal gang activity started in June and involves the Stockton Police Gang Violence Suppression Unit, the California Department of Justice/California Highway Patrol Special Operations Unit and the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office.
They are investigating an increase in violent crime involving members of several gangs in Stockton. They believe the gangs are working to benefit their gangs and subsets.
