MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Two more Monterey County parks, Garland Ranch Regional Park and Palo Corona Regional Park, reopened to the public Thursday.

The Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District closed the parks due to the Carmel and River Fires and air quality concerns. Both parks are off Carmel Valley Road, and the Carmel Fire also burned off Carmel Valley Road.

The Carmel Fire has burned 6,767 acres and is 60% contained, and the River Fire has burned 48,732 acres and is 58% contained.

On Wednesday, Fort Ord National Monument reopened to the public.

Toro County Park is closed indefinitely because it has been the base camp for crews fighting the fires, but the River Fire also burned inside the park.
