Baby born during Boulder Creek evacuation named Scarlett Ember

BOULDER CREEK, Calif. (KION)--In the midst of heartbreaking destruction came a bittersweet moment for one Central Coast family.

As the CZU Lightning Complex Fire tore through the community of Boulder Creek, Kristin and Todd were forced to evacuate their neighborhood a mile north of town.

But while they were evacuated, Kristin gave birth to a healthy baby girl, who they appropriately named Scarlett Ember.

Her family calls the 5 pound 14 ounce baby a "ray of sunshine during dark times."

As far as the family knows, their home is still standing. They tell us they are grateful to Dominican Hospital that provided the baby with everything she needs until they can return home.
