Santa Cruz county urges tent campers to move indoors immediately

According to a county of Santa Cruz press release, the Santa Cruz County Emergency Operations Center is urging people evacuated from the Lightning Complex Fire that are currently staying outdoors in tents to seek indoor shelter immediately. 

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning through Monday, August 24 at 5 p.m. 

Santa Cruz county and its partners have established more than 2,200 shelter and safe parking spaces, with about 50 percent occupancy as of Sunday, August 23 at 12:00 p.m.

These shelters are offering meals, medical and behavioral health services and additional housing resources. They say pets are welcome at local shelters as long as their owners has them under control.
