SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) The Santa Cruz Fire Department said the body of a gray whale washed up along West Cliff Drive.

The whale was found against rocks near the road.

The Pelagic Shark Research Foundation said no sharks were seen in the area, and there was no visible sign of its cause of death, orca pedation or shark bites via drone footage or eyes.

The foundation said it is waiting for closer inspection and updated information.

Lifeguards in Santa Cruz helped to move the whale out.
