Texas man arrested for sexual assaults in Pebble Beach
UPDATED 5/30/19 11:00 p.m.: The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a brutal sexual assault case out of Pebble Beach.
Detectives flew all the way to Texas to arrest the suspect.
The Sheriff’s Office said the suspect is David Walter Osborne, 48, a private wealth manager.
He’s facing serious charges and detectives said getting him back to Monterey County is a main focus.
A profile of Osborne is on the Osborne Advisors website, it lists him as president and founder.
In his bio, Osborne is said to have gotten through college on a golf scholarship, and it was a golf trip that the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said brought him to Pebble Beach in a private jet. They said he visited the area with two “high profile” friends, that the Sheriff’s office would not identify.
Those two friends are not facing charges, but detectives said they shared a hotel room on May 8 at Pebble Beach Lodge, which is where they said the sexual assault happened.
“During the investigation, we had enough probable cause to go to the DA’s office [and] get the warrant for his arrest,” said Capt. John Thornburg, with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.
Osborne was arrested May 21 in Austin, Texas, by Monterey County Sheriff’s detectives who traveled there to take him into custody.
His charges include assault with intent to commit rape, sexual penetration by a foreign object, attempted forcible rape and false imprisonment by violence. Osborne posted bail for $100,000.
Now, detectives are trying to get him back to the Central Coast.
“We can’t just grab him in Texas and drive him to Monterey County, there’s a legal process we have to follow,” Thornburg said.
As they proceed with the extradition process, detectives are asking the public for help.

Detectives said Osborne, a private wealth manager, and two high-profile friends rented a private jet and flew to Pebble Beach for a golf trip. They shared rooms at the Pebble Beach Lodge, where detectives say the assaults happened.
The Sheriff’s Office gathered evidence and got an arrest warrant for Osborne. Detectives then traveled to Austin where they worked with the Austin Police Department and arrested Osborne at his office.
He was booked into the Travis County Jail and charged with assault with intent to commit rape, sexual penetration by a foreign object, attempted forcible rape and false imprisonment by violence.
