Seaside man sentenced to 25 years in prison for child molestation

A Seaside man will be spending the next 25 years in prison for charges of committing forcible child molestation.

Amdres Vargas Herrera, 48, was convicted of molesting a female family member repeatedly when she was between the ages of 10 and 12 years old. The victim said it happened when her mother was not around and that she was afraid of Herrera, so she did not report the molestation until years later.

Herrera will be required to register as a sex offender for life in addition to his prison sentence. He has also been ordered to have no contact with Jane Doe for 10 years.
