12-year-old Capitola girl takes joyride with friends

For the second time in two weeks, a 12-year-old Capitola girl took her parents’ car for a late night joyride.

The girl’s parents called 911 early Tuesday morning after realizing their daughter and their car were gone.

A California Highway Patrol officer working the graveyard shift, made a traffic stop in Live Oak and found the 12-year-old in the driver seat along with her friends.

According to CHP, this wasn’t the first time they received a call about the minor driving without a license. Two weeks ago, officers spotted the Capitola girl driving erratically with friends in the car.

CHP told KION juvenile court will be handling this case.
