Law Enforcement all over Central Coast preparing for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Law enforcement agencies all over the Central Coast are gearing up for tomorrow’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The annual event is all about keeping prescription meds off the streets and out of the ocean. According to the 20-15 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs, a majority of which were taken from the home medicine cabinet of family and friends. Hollister Police Sergeant Don Pershall says they’ve seen it first hand, and it’s better just to get rid of any prescription drugs that are not being used.
“It’s important because there is a lot of prescription drug abuse, especially when you have children of a certain age that could be tempted to experiment. It could be a gateway thing. It’s important to get the drugs out of homes,” said Hollister Police Department Sergeant, Don Pershall.
IN HOLLISTER: The Police Department will be collecting prescription meds Saturday from 10 AM TO 2 PM in the target parking lot.
IN MARINA: THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS A PRESCRIPTION DRUG COLLECTION RECEPTACLE AT THEIR STATION ON HILLCREST AVENUE. IT’S OPEN FROM 10 AM TO 2 PM.
