Hiker rescued in the Big Sur area

The California Highway Patrol Coastal Division Air Operations crew and Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team helped rescue an injured hiker in the Big Sur area Monday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two organizations were training near Fort Hunter Liggett when they got a call to help rescue the hiker from the Salmon Creek Trail.

The crew of H-70 and Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue battled strong winds of up to 60 mph during the rescue.

The hiker was eventually safely taken to an ambulance crew at the Ragged Point Inn & Resort.
