Kitten tased by teens on Snapchat

Police in Florida are looking for two kids that are seen on a Snapchat video using a taser on a kitten.

The video caught the attention of authorities in Florida. Police are now looking for the pair and some officials hope to see them face animal cruelty charges.

“It’s not a game. Animal cruelty is not a game,” said neighbor Michele Higham.

The video originally posted to Snapchat and sent to a TV station is now at the center of an animal cruelty investigation in Nassau County, Florida.

“To see an animal who is harmless and has not done anything to be treated that way, it’s just cruel,” said Commissioner Justin Taylor.

The video shows two children using a taser on a kitten and then laughing once it gets zapped.

“Who was standing there videoing this that’s the other question. Who would allow children to do this and think it’s funny?” said Higham.

The video was first sent to Nassau County Animal Services Thursday morning.

Timothy Maguire/Nassau County Animal Services Director said,

“For one they shouldn’t have had a taser and to tase a kitten or anyone for no reason is cruel,” said Timothy Maguire, the director of Nassau County Animal Services.

Officers have been driving around since Thursday in a neighborhood trying to find the kids involved and the kitten that was hurt.

“The damage is done not only physically but mentally to that cat,” said Higham.

Since then, Maguire says people have come forward identifying the kids in the video. Animal Services has turned the investigation over the the sheriff’s office.

“Hopefully they’ll be able to locate them and charge them with animal cruelty,” said Maguire.
