Salinas man to be sentenced for Chinatown shooting

A Salinas man will be sentenced to 15 years behind bars for a shooting in Chinatown.

According to the Monterey County District Attorney, 20-year-old Noe Chavez plead no contest to two counts of attempted murder. He also admitted to enhancements for the personal use of a firearm and personally inflicting great bodily injury.

Chavez shot at a man and other homeless people in Chinatown after an argument on February 15, 2017. Multiple people were hit by bullets and suffered traumatic injuries. No one was killed.

Chavez is expected to be sentenced on September 6, 2017.
