CHP: 66-year-old man killed in Big Sur crash Thursday night
A 66-year-old man was killed in a crash on Highway 1 in Big Sur Thursday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The man was traveling southbound when the 1972 Volkwagen Beetle he was driving veered off the edge of the road and struck a tree.
The driver was the sole occupant in the crash, reported around 8:30 p.m.
He was pronounced dead around 10 p.m., CHP officer Jaime Rios said. The use of alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
The man’s name has not yet been released pending notification of his family.
