Salinas police investigating armed robbery on Main Street

Salinas police say a gun was fired as a suspected robber and a victim struggled inside a Main Street store Sunday night.

Officers were dispatched to the Prestige Boutique around 10:40 p.m. for reports of an armed robbery. A lone suspect entered the closed business and brandished a gun, ordering the victims to empty their pockets.

When the suspect turned away for a second, one of the victims lunged at him and tried to wrestle the gun away. While wresting for the gun, a shot was fired but no one was struck.

The victim then bit the suspect’s arm before the suspect fled. Another victim ran to the nearby Maya Cinemas to call police.

The suspect is described as an unknown race male, approximately 5’9″ tall wearing a white T-shirt with a dark ski mask covering his face.
