Hollister police issue four illegal fireworks citations

Four people were cited for illegal fireworks in the city of Hollister this past weekend, police said.

The Hollister Fireworks Enforcement Team announced the citations Monday. Each citation could cost the recipient $1,000 for their first offense.

The Hollister Fireworks Enforcement Team will be out throughout the extended July 4th weekend in marked and unmarked vehicles.

If you possess illegal fireworks or if you are unsure if the fireworks you have are legal, contact the Hollister Fire Department at 636-4325. Hollister officials say residents can turn in any illegal fireworks they might have — and avoid citation — at any city of Hollister fire station or the San Juan Bautista Fire Station.

To report illegal fireworks, call the fire department at 636-4325 or 636-4331.

The fire department is also offering a free downloadable fireworks safety fact sheet. That’s available here.
