Man Accused of Leaving a Family Trapped in a Car after DUI Accident Pleads Guilty
A Cambria man has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and causing an accident that almost severed a woman’s arm.
In November, Gregorio Flores was driving under the influence on Highway 101 just north of East Garrison Road when he collided head-on with a vehicle.
After the accident Flores fled the scene and left a family of four trapped in their vehicle.
All four members of the family – three adults and one child – had to be extricated from the vehicle, said the DA’s office. One of the victims had a fractured foot and another sustained injuries which included a fractured right femur, fractured humerus, and an almost completely severed arm.
The child in the car also suffered minor injuries, said emergency crews.
Flores was later found by police and had a blood alcohol level of .16 percent, said the DA’s office.
Flores is expected to be sentenced to 9 years and 8 months in prison, said the Monterey County Distinct Attorney’s office.
