Second COVID-19 related death reported at Correctional Training Facility

SOLEDAD, Calif. (KION) The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation reports that a second inmate has died of COVID-19 related causes at the Correctional Training Facility.

The inmate died on Nov. 27 from what appears to be complications of the virus, according to the CDCR. This was the 87th COVID-19 related death in the California prison system.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 867 confirmed cases at CTF, according to the CDCR. 391 cases are still active and 282 of those have are new within the past 14 days. 463 inmates have recovered.

There have been a total of 132 cases among staff members, and 104 of them have returned to work. 28 staff cases are still active, and 27 are new within the past 14 days.
