SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION) San Benito County is joining the state-funded program "Great Plates Delivered" to provide meals to seniors.

The program involves a partnership with local restaurants to deliver meals to seniors aged 65 and older or adults aged 60 to 64 who are at high risk from COVID-19 to help them stay healthy at home.

It is also an effort to help local restaurants that may be struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Restaurants and food facilities interested in participating will have to meet nutritional and volume standards, source local produce and meats when possible, meet cultural needs and prioritize local jobs, worker health and safety standards. To submit interest, fill out the form here.

Seniors can learn more about participating in the program by contacting Program Coordinator Cielo Lopez at greatplatessanbenito@gmail.com or 831-205-1371.
