San Benito County woman in her 80s dies of coronavirus

SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Two San Benito County residents have died of coronavirus, and the most recent happened Friday.

County officials said a woman in her 80s with underlying health issues.

She was in isolation at home, according to the county, but her symptoms got worse, so she was taken by ambulance to Natividad Saturday and admitted to the ICU.

“While we mourn her loss, we should all remember what a potentially dangerous virus this is. We must all take the opportunity to redouble our efforts to abide by the safety precautions. Please continue to be vigilant about keeping a safe distance from others, washing your hands, and staying home if you are sick,” stated Dr. Marty Fenstersheib, San Benito County Health Officer.

Just over two weeks ago, a man in his 60s with underlying health conditions who had recently traveled to Thailand was the first San Benito County resident to die of coronavirus-related causes.
