Advisories lifted at two Monterey beaches

MONTEREY, Calif. (KION)

UPDATE 8/6/2020 3 p.m. The Monterey County Health Department has lifted beach advisories at Monterey Municipal Beach and Monterey State Beach.

The health department said bacteria levels have returned to a safe level.

PREVIOUS STORY: Both Monterey Municipal Beach and Monterey State Beach are under a beach advisory that was posted Tuesday.

The Monterey County Health Department said bacteria levels at the beaches have exceeded health guidelines, so it is advising people not to go into the water.

Other area beaches are still open.
