MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Coronavirus test kits have arrived in Monterey County, according to Karen Smith with the Health Department.

Smith said the first round of tests for coronavirus will happen Friday.

So far, there have been no confirmed coronavirus cases in Monterey County, but two people tested positive in San Benito County and Santa Cruz County declared a state of emergency to prepare for potential future cases.

Earlier this week, the Monterey County Operation Area Emergency Operations Center activated to Level 3 to help the Health Department and other health agencies monitor and prepare for potential cases in the future.
