Inland Heat
High pressure will nudge back in from the east into the weekend bringing heat to inland areas. Surface flow will remain onshore, so a few low clouds and afternoon breezes will remain likely. This will keep cities on and near the coast mild. A weather system will slide by to the north out of the weekend, increasing winds and eventually ushering in a cool-down for all areas.
Friday: Low clouds slowly thinning out with only a few lingering around the Monterey Peninsula late in the day. A few high clouds will also stream in from the south. Expect coastal highs in the low 60s to mid 70s—warmest on the north side of the bay--with upper 70s to around 102ºF inland—warmest farther away from the coast. Breezy for the inland valleys in the afternoon and early evening.
Overnight: Low clouds slowly spread to fill in the coast and adjacent valleys. Only patchy fog possible. Expect lows in the low to mid 50s on the coast and mid 40s to low 50s on the coast and 50s to around 60ºF up in the hills.
Saturday: Patchy low clouds near the coast and a few high clouds streaming through. Expect coastal highs in the low 60s to mid 70s—warmest on the north side of the bay--with upper 70s to around 103ºF inland—warmest farther away from the coast. Breezy for the inland valleys in the afternoon and early evening.
Extended: Inland temperatures will continue to rise through Sunday, but coastal areas will remain seasonable with patchy low clouds and a steady breeze off the ocean. The marine layer will deepen starting Monday, with increased coastal clouds and inland cooling for all areas through mid-week.
