Temps Head Back Down
Cooler, cloudier weather is on the way! Overall troughing will continue on the west coast with another lobe of low pressure rotating back toward us through Thursday. This will once again bring cooler temperatures and increased clouds both to coastal and inland areas. It’s now looking more and more like high pressure will strengthen over the region this holiday weekend, bringing hot/dry weather inland and warm temperatures all the way to the coast. The biggest issue may be afternoon winds which could get gusty at times. Obviously, this could really heighten fire danger and is something we are watching closely.
Wednesday: Partly to mostly cloudy on the coast with persistent low clouds, but sunny inland. Cooler, with coastal highs in the 60s and 70s to mid-80s inland. Breezy for inland valleys in the afternoon.
Overnight: Once again, low clouds thicken around the coast and push into inland valleys. Patchy fog possible and drizzle possible on the south/east sides of the bay. Expect coastal lows in the low to mid-50s with upper 40s to low 50s inland.
Thursday: Expect a repeat performance of Wednesday except just a bit warmer on the Santa Cruz side of the bay… Partly to mostly cloudy on the coast with persistent low clouds, but sunny inland. Cooler, with coastal highs in the 60s to around 70ºF and 70s to mid-80s inland. Breezy for inland valleys in the afternoon.
Extended: High pressure will begin to build in on Thursday which should cut down on low clouds and bring high temperatures back to normal—60s-70s on the coast and mainly 80s to low 90s inland. Highs will then exceed normal readings this weekend as the ridges strengthens to our southwest. Expect mostly sunny skies with warm temperatures and afternoon winds.
