Monterey County officials honor first responders with resolution

Here locally, Monterey county officials also honored those lives lost on 9/11.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office color guard, veterans and Sheriff Steve Bernal were among those who gathered to remember the tragic day.

The board of supervisors also passed a resolution declaring September 11th first responders day in Monterey County.

“You know, the first responders are always running towards the danger and you know, they sacrifice a lot in their lives throughout the year, you know? They work weekends, they work holidays. When most people are off on holidays first responders are working,” says Bernal.

Bernal also says the resolution he was given isn’t just a symbol for the sheriff’s office, he feels it’s a symbol for all first responders in Monterey County.
