Hollister police ask for information about cat shot with pellet gun
HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION) Hollister Police Animal Care and Services is looking for information about the person who shot a cat with a pellet gun.
Animal control officers said a community member contacted them on Aug. 7 saying their cat had been shot by a pellet gun on July 26. The person said it happened sometime between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the area around Powell and C Street.
The cat's owner did not see what happened, but said they found it near the home with bloody wounds. When it was taken to a veterinarian, two pellets were found and removed. The cat is expected to recover.
Police said that intentionally causing pain or suffering to an animal can be a felony crime. A felony animal abuse conviction could result in a prison sentence of up to three years.
