Application to move into Stage 2 extension approved by Santa Cruz Co. Supervisors
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Santa Cruz County officials said the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve an application to move into the extended Stage 2 of reopening.
If approved by the state, the county would be able to allow dine-in restaurants, barbershops and hair salons to reopen with modifications.
To move forward, the county had to submit a variance application showing epidemiologic data, information about community readiness and other plans related to its COVID-19 response.
The plans include triggers for putting restrictions in place if the number of cases grows.
Approval from the state could take up to a week. Until that time, restaurants can only be open for takeout and delivery and barbershops and hair salons are not allowed to reopen.
The San Benito County Health Officer said she does not intend to let schools reopen yet.
