A Cooler, Clearer Night Ahead
The weather pattern will remain tranquil as we head through the weekend. With zonal west to east flow, we’ll see fairly seasonable temperatures and dry conditions. Onshore flow at the surface will mean periodic low clouds and breezy winds. A weak weather system passing well to the north Saturday into Sunday may squeeze a bit of drizzle out. Otherwise, we’ll be dry. High pressure will strengthen from the south next week which will lead to a significant warm-up, especially for inland areas.
Overnight: Mostly clear with a few passing high clouds and a few low clouds possible near the coast. Cooler, with lows in the 40s. Breezy over the hills at times.
Friday: A few passing high clouds, otherwise sunny. A bit warmer with coastal highs in the mid-60s to low 70s and mid-70s to low 80s inland. Becoming breezy in the afternoon. Low clouds return to the coast late.
Saturday: Patchy low clouds at the coast, otherwise mostly sunny with occasional passing high clouds. Expect coastal highs in the low to low 70s with 70s to around 80ºF inland. Breezy in the afternoon for the exposed coast and larger inland valleys. Low clouds increase late with some light drizzle possible.
Extended: High temperatures will be the coolest on Sunday under partly cloudy skies, then gradually climb through mid-week with most areas seeing above normal readings by then. No rain expected in the next 7-10 days.
The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for May 8th-14th calls for the likelihood of ABOVE normal temperatures and near normal precipitation.
