San Benito County amends Shelter in Place order to allow county parks, city parks, golf courses to open
SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION) San Benito County Public Health Officer Dr. Marty Fenstersheib has amended his Shelter in Place order to allow the public to use county parks, city parks and golf courses.
Under the Shelter in Place order, residents are asked to stay home except for essential activities and exercise. Outdoor activity at parks, beaches and other open spaces was allowed with restrictions, but golf courses were ordered to close along with tennis and pickleball courts, climbing walls, pools and other facilities.
In the amendment, the the order says that the public can use open areas in county and city parks that are not specifically closed as long as social distancing requirements are met. Golf courses can also open as long as social distancing requirements are met.
The amendment goes into effect at 8 a.m. Monday and will continue through 11:59 p.m. on May 3, when the order is set to expire, unless it is extended, rescinded or amended.
