Highway 101 tree removal project begins November 3 north of Prunedale

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Caltrans announced a project to remove eucalyptus trees on a segment of Highway 101 north of Prunedale near Rocks Road begins on November 3, 2024.

A single lane of southbound 101 will be closed overnight from the junction of US 101 and Highway 156 East to San Juan Road because of this project.

CHP is conducting traffic breaks of up to ten minutes on an intermittent basis in addition to the closures.

During overnight hours, drivers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes.

Work will happen Sundays from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Caltrans said no work is expected on Friday or Saturday nights.
