Pajaro Community Grants Program nearing deadline

PAJARO, Calif. (KION) - The people of Pajaro will soon be getting some relief after last year's funding. The county is setting aside $2 million out of the $20 million allocated to support flood relief to the Community Grants Program.

People in Pajaro are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The deadline to apply for this grant is October 18th. You can do so by clicking here.

Grant requests can range from $10,000 to $100,000. Non-profits can request more than one grant as long as they are not duplicating each other.

Priorities range from mental health services, increased health access, beautification projects, economic equity programs and more.

The county says they will try to be as inclusive as possible for the priorities. Laurel Lee with the Community Foundation tells us how the selection process works.

"There will be a committee of community representatives, one county of Monterey representative, one youth representative, a local business representative, and that's a minimum. There could be more than three on the committee. The applications will be reviewed by the committee and the committee will provide recommendations. The county of Monterey has the final decision-making authority or grants," says Lee.

Grants will be announced on November 22. The grant period will be from December 1 through September 30, 2025 and all funds must be fully spent by September 30, 2025.
