Cooler Day

A cooldown on tap for today as the marine layer deepens further. A trough of low pressure passing by will absorb the previously cut-off low to our west, supporting that deeper marine layer. Low clouds are likely to remain more of a fixture around the bay throughout the day with only partial, limited clearing. The trough moves on by Thursday and weak ridging to our southeast takes over, compressing the marine layer again. Light northwesterly surface flow will help clear out the north side of the bay, though some low cloud cover will remain in the south. Temps will head up for most areas, either way!  

AIR QUALITY: Good

Today: Clouds lingering at the coast with highs in the 60s. Mostly sunny inland with highs in the 70s to low 90s. Windy up-valleys late in the day.

Overnight: Mostly cloudy at the coast and increasing clouds inland. Lows in the low to upper 50s.

Thursday: Becoming partly cloudy on the coast and mostly sunny inland. Coastal highs in the mid 60s to mid 70s—warmest on the north side of the bay—and upper 70s to mid 90s inland. Windy up valleys late in the day.

Extended: Temps continue to head upward on Friday. In fact, light offshore flow should allow for significant warming all the way to the coast—think 70s-80s. Temps crash again into the weekend as another trough passes by and cools us back off. Another strong ridge possible out of the weekend into next week which would bring the heat once again.
