Turning Cooler & Windy
The cooling trend will continue as high pressure continues to weaken to our southeast. Overall troughing will develop on the west coast and dig southward by mid-week before moving to the east. This will push a cold front into our area Wednesday. In the days leading up to it, low clouds may produce drizzle as the marine layer deepens. Winds will be gusty with frontal passage on Wednesday, slowly tapering off into Thursday.
**Gale Watch** Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening for Monterey Bay coastal waters from Pigeon Point to Point Pinos.
...Northwest winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 45 kt possible
...Strong winds can cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
AIR QUALITY: Good
Today: Mostly cloudy on the coast with partial clearing in the afternoon. Inland areas will mostly clear out but some high clouds will pass through from the west. Expect coastal highs in the mid 60s to low 70s with mid 70s to low 90s inland. Breezy onshore winds in the afternoon becoming windy up valleys late in the day. Clouds thicken late with drizzle possible.
Overnight: Cloudy along the coast with drizzle possible and partly cloudy in the adjacent valleys with lows in the low to mid 50s with a few 40s inland.
Wednesday: Overcast with patchy drizzle in the morning, then scattering out with partly cloudy skies and gusty west-northwesterly winds during the afternoon. Highs in the 60s-70s on the coast and 70s to low 80s inland. Clouds thicken again late with some coastal drizzle possible.
Extended: Seasonable to slightly cool for the rest of the week and into the weekend with partly cloudy skies. We’re tracking another trough moving through early next week. This would could be deeper and may bring some precipitation. Stay tuned!
