Short warm spell continues Tuesday

High pressure builds into the region through mid-week, producing an offshore flow of winds, which will keep most clouds away on Tuesday. Temperatures will warm further on Tuesday, with highs some 10-15ºF above normal for this time of year on the coast. Warming will continue on Wednesday for inland areas, but we’ll begin to cool on the coast as surface winds switch back onshore. Temperatures will be below normal for all areas as we head into the weekend. A weather system will approach from the west from Sunday into Monday and may bring some light rain to the region..

Tuesday: Sunny with just a few low clouds possible on the coast. Much warmer with coastal highs in the upper 60s to upper 70s and widespread 70s to around 80ºF inland. Breezy on the exposed coast during the afternoon.

Tuesday night: Low clouds return to the coast, and locally inland. Some fog is possible in the southern valleys. Lows in the 40s for most areas.

Wednesday: Low clouds thicken on the coast a bit with slightly cooler temperatures. It will still be mild, however with highs in the 60s to low 70s. Inland areas will remain quite warm under mostly sunny skies. Highs in the 70s to low 80s.

Extended: We’re more likely to see low clouds on the coast from Thursday on into the weekend as onshore flow strengthens. Highs across the region will return to slightly cool levels. A dry weather system will pass through the end of the week with a slightly wet system Sunday into Monday. At the moment, only light rain is expected, but timing and eventual intensity are still a bit up in the air.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for April 21st-27th  calls for the likelihood of ABOVE normal temperatures and BELOW normal precipitation.
